Hi Mike,
We took the car out today and we had a problem with the transmission, the engine started revving and the gears kept slipping, especially when going up or down hills.
We called the AA who gave this report, they seemed to think it is an electric fault, it was fine when we drove it home but I am worried about driving it now, can you ring Paul on 07806 278675 because he will understand car talk better.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
I know you are still away and I am sorry to be a nuisance but more things keep going wrong on the car, the electric roof doesn’t work, the central locking doesn’t work , I can’t open the boot from the inside, the window on the driver side is open quite a bit and I can’t close it, I have had to order a cover to protect it from the rain and it doesn’t feel very safe when I leave it in a public car park.
I hope we can get all this sorted next Tuesday because I rely on my car a lot for the children and I have hardly used it so it is a bit disappointing.

Hi Sonia
These doors are very complicated but yours should be reasonably easy to fix.
A door can have 1 or possibly 2 problems not 5 or 6. Seems like it will be a wiring loom fix where the loom goes into the body.
The wires break there and it’s as simple as that.
Not to worry get it sorted when we see you.

Hi Mike,
Have you managed to book in the car to fix the gear box?
Sonia
We got the car from Sonia on the the 27/04/2018
Auto gearboxs are not or specality by any means and we need some advice for auto gearbox reapir centres. We made several calls and described the symptons and got vaslty differnt opions of what was wrong.
We had everything from a full gearbox rebuild to a valve body or just even an oil change. We even brought the car to 3 different centres for them to have a look at.
We decided to go with Joesph who is a small independant auto gearbox specalist not because this was the cheapest cost option but felt he was the man for the job and came highly recomended.
Joesph diagnosed it will be the solenoinds that will need to be replaced.
He told us he could get a set of solenoids at short notice but couldn't guarantee he would have the correct ones.
Joesph started the task on Tuesday the 02 of May 2018. The solenoids he fitted were slightly differnt to one he placeed but said it will cure the problem but might get some cross over with gear changes.

I have just had a call for my gearbox man and yours is back together all but for a filter.
The filter is one of the very last componets to fit but the one he was supplied was wrong and didn't fit.
He has one stock and will bring it with him in the morning. He has to fill the gearbox with oil and do some adaptation on the computer and it's done.
The door is more or less off and will be sorted in the morning also.
The earliest the car will be completed would be 12 oclock ish bit the difficult bits have been done.
Didn't want to call as it too late.

We noticed this evening that it is a bit jerky in 1st and 2nd gear when slowing down or sometimes accelerating. Paul thinks it might be more sensitive than before as it has new parts in it, I will let you know as I get on over the next few weeks and fingers crossed we won’t need to do any more to it .
Hope you have a nice bank holiday weekend.

Hi Mike
I am sure you didn’t want to hear from me again but I had no choice but to get back to you to tell you that my car is jerking between 1st and 2nd gear quite badly , the engine does not rev but it is quite a jump and I feel with time, it is only going to get worse.
I have done some research and it looks like the valve body needs replacing.
I think I might take it to somewhere local to have it confirmed, I am worried about bringing it back to you, I can not be an other 10 days with no transport, it is just not possible , I need a hire car and the reassurance that it will be fixed properly with receipts , paperwork and proof, I am sadly beginning to lose trust in your garage and I didn’t want that to happen as I was so happy with the car in the first place.

Well,
What can I say ?
I have now been waiting nearly a week for you to get back to me with a date to change the solenoids in my car .
I am beginning to believe that you never ordered anything and you keep putting me off with one excuse after another.
I have now booked the car in with a local garage to get the gearbox checked over .
I might be a woman but I am no fool, I know when somebody is not being straight with me.
If it turns out that the solonoids weren’t changed at all or it is an other problem all together, I will send you the bill.
My uncle is a solicitor and will advise me on the right legal path to get this resolved properly.
I bought the car in good faith and you haven’t honoured the guarantee as promised, I have no proof, no paperwork to show me what work has been done.
The gearbox has not been right from day one and I made you aware of this, not to mention the other problems !
I saved for a long time to buy this car and it was meant to be a treat but it has been stress and hassle ! It is really, very disappointing.

Does that mean you are not coming tomorrow? Tomorrow and Thursdays are the only days that Joesph can do this for me otherwise it will again me weeks.
If and you want to get someone else to repair fine but you will need the solenoids we have in stock.
There are not in the shelf in UK.
I don’t hold grudges as life it much too short and when will still gladly get the parts fitted to remove the harsh gear change.
Have a sleep on it and come back to me tomorrow.
You can clearly see the car was not insured earlier today. At 9am this morning I spoke to my insurance company to get it put in the policy manually. I even fitted 4 new tyres to the car which it need any way because I didn’t want you to get stopped with an illegal tyre on the car I had loaned you. The tyres were on the car by 10.30am but the insurance is totally out of my control and I simply couldn’t have got it insured any quicker because of the plate transfer confused the car ID system the insurance have in place.
They simply couldn’t identify the car to insure it

That’s not true. Give me the number of the garage. 150% the valve body was taken out. 200%. Can you explain then why your 4th gear stopped slipping then. 300% we did it and change the oil and filter. You have to change to oil when you drop the gearbox sump.
1000% we did it.
Whoever your having the car done with is now telling lies. I don’t know why people do that.

Ask them for the gearbox filter. There are two cork gaskets in there. On a new one these will still be a cork colour and soft. Old ones are black and hard.
1000% you are now being lied to.
Even by looking at the sump you could tell that it been off. It was spotlessly clean even in all creases where the gasket goes.
1000% we did it. I have invoice for the oils, filter and labour Joesph for those dates.
For me to say we had done this work and for not do would be the most stupid thing ever. A quick look and anyone could see the sump have been at the very very least.
I suggest you get the at least the filter from them and you will see for yourself.
Also get them to put in writing that we did nothing.
You are now being lied to.
Did they fix it?
